Before Booking:

  1. There are some medical conditions/medications that can be affected by a piercing or subsequent healing. Some may also hinder or cause the healing to be problematic.  These include diabetes, epilepsy, haemophilia, heart conditions, blood thinning medication, pregnancy or breast feeding.  Please contact us in advance to check, to save any disappointment on the day.  In most cases, we can provide a letter for your doctor to complete to bring to the appointment.

  2. Some piercings have a minimum age limit which is stated on the booking details. We ask that all clients bring Government issued photo ID to verify age and identity.  This can be a passport, driving licence, Citizen Card etc.  In the case of piercings on a minor, both the parent and child will need Photo ID.

  3. Plan your piercing appointment – wait until after the holiday! We do not recommend submerging the piercing in shared pools or seawater as this can risk infection or cause other problems.

On the Day:

  1. Our COVID-19 Protocol now requires all clients to wear face masks/coverings inside Dorchester Aesthetics Centre & throughout the appointment.  These are available to purchase for £2 each.  Please ask.

  2. Please ensure you have eaten a good meal within the four hours before the appointment. This will ensure good sugar levels and a smooth recovery if you are particularly nervous.

  3. Get a good night’s sleep to ensure you are well rested. Fatigue, stress and hangovers can make you more sensitive on the day!

  4. Optimum health is important- if you are poorly or under the weather, your body will struggle to heal a piercing.

  5. Personal hygiene is important – please ensure you are showered particularly if the piercing is below the neck.

  6. Wear loose clothing to avoid trauma to your new piercing.

  7. Our COVID-19 Protocol now requires you to wait outside until ushered in for your appointment.  Herein you will be able to see and discuss the jewellery upgrades available. The cabinet is now displayed near the studio in Dorchester Aesthetics Centre.  For piercing jewellery inspiration, have a look at the gallery.

  8. Prior to piercing, we will ask to see your Government issued photo ID and you will need to complete a consent form and answer questions on your medical health.  We are legally required to keep this as a record of the procedure.  You will also receive a copy.

  9. If you are under the influence of drink or drugs, your booking will be cancelled and you will be charged a cancellation fee.

  10. Please do not bring young children into the studio – it is not a safe environment and the piercer will prefer to remain 100% focussed on the client. Children do not always create a relaxing environment.  Our COVID-19 Protocol now requires all clients to be aged over 16 to aid social distancing in the busy salon.  If you require assistance or would like a piercing performed on your child aged 14-16, please contact us for more information and we will do our best to accommodate this at a more suitable time.

  11. Bear in mind that the skin preparation used prior to piercing will remove nearby facial makeup. We advise avoiding the use of foundation or face powder.

  12. If you usually shave in the piercing area, do so before you arrive. It may prove a little difficult to shave once the piercing is in.

After the piercing:

  1. Celebrate and enjoy the new you!

  2. We will give you aftercare advice verbally and in writing. NeilMed Piercing Aftercare Spray will be available to purchase (at a discounted rate for clients) in the Studio.  If you have any queries on this at all, please contact us.

  3. It is important to follow our guidelines. This aftercare advice has been tried and tested for over 20 years of body piercing and mirror that of the globally recognised Association of Professional Piercers.
